The European Larch can reach over 160 feet in nature, with a trunk diameter of 6.5 feet It is native to the Alps, in central and southern Europe.

The European Larch grows extremely fast in its early years. The leaves are 1-3 cm long, flat, soft and pale green turning to golden yellow in autumn. It has greyish bark that forms cracks and ridges in older specimens.
