The Japanese Cedar, also known as Sugi in a Japan, is found in Japanese forests and in Southern China. The tree can grow up to an impressive 200ft tall and is often planted in clusters.
This a tall, cone-shaped tree with bluish green foliage and a massive trunk with thick reddish-brown bark that shreds and peels into long strips. The branches are placed in horizontal rows, rising at the beginning, and falling near their ends. The leaves are small, needle-like and dark green. The needles will turn bronze in winter but come back to green once spring awakens.
