The Beech Tree forms a smooth bark with bluish-grey tints of colour. The small, tri-ridged nuts are edible.

The foliage is silky-textured and has serrated oval leaves, ideal for a medium to extra-large sized Bonsai. The leaves turn from a fresh light green in spring through darker green in summer, to the warm autumnal shades of russet and gold.
