The Giant Sequoia is native to the western slopes of Sierra Nevada in California, with some trees believed to be over 3,500 years old.

The bark is very thick with reddish-brown colours, and is deeply furrowed with large attractive rounded ridges. The foliage is bluish-green in colour, hard and harsh to the touch.
