This evergreen tree has a conical appearance and a large, irregular head. The bark flakes off and reveals red and orange colours; superb trunk. The tree tends to want to develop several trunks, but you can prune it so that it develops only one.
In Japan, this tree is said to be feminine, due to its soft appearance. The needles are a bright bluish green or a yellow-green. They are arranged in pairs and remain on the tree for about 3 years.
